Announcing the Dear Teen Me Anthology!
We’re excited to announce that Zest Books, which is distributed by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, has offered to turn Dear Teen Me into an anthology! We are so excited to be working with publisher and creative director Hallie Warshaw. The tentative publication date is fall 2012. Zest has published many great non-fiction titles.

Since the Dear Teen Me site debuted in December 2010, we’ve had 25,000 visitors from all 50 states and 121 countries. We’ve featured over 150 letters from authors.
While we’re not sure whose letters will be featured in the anthology, we promise we’ll have all new content from a wide variety of people from all different backgrounds.
Teen Emily, crooked bangs and all.
To us, this project is all about hope and sharing. We believe that teenagers will love hearing about how their favorite authors faced similar experiences. Our hope is this anthology will provide teenagers the strength to step up and confront life in a powerful way.
Thanks to everyone who has contributed a letter to Dear Teen Me! This anthology would not be possible without you.

This news is very exciting but not surprising– this site was a great idea. The book and this site are wonderful chances for authors like me who mostly write academic work to do some creative nonfiction; plus, it gives readers young and old a place to connect with others and not feel isolated in their experiences. I love being part of this site–it’s even inspired me to do more personal writing. This week, I shared it with my students (and they love the site, too) and they did their own letters as a freewrite.
I’m so stoked to see the final product!
I think that DTM is such a great idea! I wish I would of had something like this in my early teens. I think this is going to help a lot of young people.
